Ugh.

A day of slugging away at life, mostly, although not without joy.

Got up early to unpleasant dreams that somehow involved a stressed out Miss [livejournal.com profile] jezebelpussycat dropping out of Out for Blood because I was having trouble with my code and she needed to help me. I seem to have merged several aspects of "stress" - stressed about code, stressed about show, knowing Jez is stressed, too - into one big yucky dream.

Figured I'd try to beat down at least one monster - set out to start more coding. May or may not have fixed or broken anything. Finally gave up on current bugs, and started in on new topics - terminating a process and all it's children.

Packed it up and hustled out to the South End for a quick brunch. Went to Tremont 647 which was entirely unthrilling. My waitress was metza-metz - leaving me sitting a bit too long waiting for the check, and seeming entirely uninterested in helping me in any way. The chocolate chip pancakes were dry, not flavorful and a bit tough. Entirely unlike pancakes in texture. The sausage was OK, but one small sausage ball does not a good meal make. Note to self - plan the extra time and go down to Metropolis for yummy granola next time.

Got to Liquid - a trendy hair salon recommended by [livejournal.com profile] pax_industria and [livejournal.com profile] new_man - and rightly so. They took a wicked amount of my day - being late starting on me (1/2 hour late) and then the cut + color + blow dry. But generally worth it. My hair lady - Heather - was lovely. Pleasant, gentle, and I love the color. She talked me into a very light bit of layering, and now my hair does the swingy thing that it seems other people with nice hair have. It's about 5" shorter, now, and a slightly pink/violet flavor of dark brown. In the right light, it's not genetically possible, but in business meetings it should be fine, especially if I pull it up, as I ususally do. After a strong dislike was formed to my last hairdresser, I ignored my hair for about 6 or 8 months. With all the dying, it sustained serious damage, and needed some serious whacking off.

Beyond that, I really liked talking to her, I felt comfortable in the salon, and if wouldn't be freaky, I'd like to propose to the shampoo girl. Never in my life have ever received such a relaxing (and yet stimulating) shampoo. I was the girl who used to scream when my mother washed my hair.

Total $115 - not bad for 3 bottles of dye, and a cut. That's about what it cost at the last place. About the only thing that sucks is the location - must do it on weekends or late nights.

Hustled out at 4:50 (after pimping some Baby Dolls to my new best friend Heather), and got me some character shoes at Teddy's. Nice 3" ones in black. I feel like the hero in a video game. I want to hold these shoes over my head while the screen flashes and triumphant music plays. Getting to Teddy's when they are open is an ordeal. Finding what I want in my size is even more of a challenge.

Shlepped home to sadly do even more homework. Bleh. Got a leftover dinner, to be more frugal and to save time. And plunged in. I know have an entire structure for suspend and resume functionality. On the "simple" test it works just fine. The fun will be debugging the multi-process test.

On the up side, my prof wrote me - he things I may have found a bug. So he's giving my problems with the other tests serious consideration. YAY! I still don't think it's him - I'm willing to believe it's me. But if he's taking it seriously, then at least I should get a good answer. And it's usually bonus points if you make the prof think. :)

Hoping tonight will be a more pleasant sleep. Not spending time investigating more code - ending on a happy note. Cross your fingers. If I get REALLY lucky, I may get to play with shiny things tomorrow.

I'm fascinated by your experience with operating systems. Assembly language was the class that whipped my butt, so I feel your pain trying to make something work. Yesterday I fixed something at work that may or may not solve the problem the client is having. I'll find out later if it works.

Since I talked to you last night as you were in the middle of posting this, I don't really have a lot to say. ANd I ws going to inquire how the code went... but I can just call you. So I will.
