OK... will be leaving for London in 24 hours and can hardly think of anything else. I started today in a very ambitious work mood, but keep goofing around with random chores, not settling into anything. Vacation brain has fully engaged.

Now, at least, I can go home and pack.

I'm a combination of excited (duh, it's LONDON! and I've never been there!), nervous (foriegn travel is new to me, hoping "what we do" negotiations won't be hard), eager (to meet two people I've only known online), nervous more (that they will still think I'm spiffy, even when I can't choose my words in writing), concerned (that work will be OK while I'm gone), eager (to get the hell away from work for a while)... and on and on and on.

Hoping I won't let anything fall through the cracks of the rest of my life, while I go and enjoy this.

I hope you have a wonderful time! London is a pretty nice city. Most flights I've taken to Europe have been over-night. I'll encourage you to stay as hydrated as you can on the plane. The first day there used to be rough for me with the combination of poor sleep and dehydration. While I still don't sleep well on planes, it helps to at least not be dehydrated.

Enjoy the trip! cosmicgarden and I spent our honeymoon there almost exactly a year ago. Buy a tube pass when you get there - Zone 1 should be enough to get you to most popular places. The pass will also let you take all buses within the same zone.

I highly recommend riding around on the top level of a double decker bus to help you get your orientation. I wouldn't bother with either of the site-seeing tour buses (the ones with open tops) - just ride the regular transport buses.
