Presentation done
Nov. 16th, 2005 03:15 pmNot sure if I baffled them with bullshit or astounded them with intelligence - but the presentation is done. With very few questions or critiques. Admittedly, the info load was technically heavy, and they haven't perused my formal document yet, but it's hopeful. Now we move along and start making stuff.
Worth noting - http://www.bostonbabydolls.net/performances/axis.php - is a link to get 2 for 1 tickets to Axis, so if my post earlier has incited you to come, bring a friend for free! :)
Finished the dress last night. This morning I pinned it to a tighter shape, and practiced. Not all my moves are so great in it - things that go "up" - hip ups, vertical figure eights, hip arcs - do not work so well - hip moves, dress does not. Not too bad - I can re-strategize to do more horizontal stuff. And sideways shimmies work pretty darn well - so must add them.
I am extremely amused by this: How to make a fruit hat - thanks to Miss Mina. I desperately wanted one several years back, when I found a site SELLING them - I was extremely intruiged by the economy fruit hat. Why, oh why, would you stick fruit on your head in an economy sort of fashion? Deluxe all the way, man! "subtle" is not something you look for in a fruit hat. But... although the price was very reasonable, I did not have a reason.
OK.. well, I did not have a GOOD reason. I pondered the idea of getting it for drive through fast food runs, traveling on the T, and doing grocery shopping... but somehow it just seemed frivolous - and I don't do those things very often. I also thought that perhaps I could get one and put it on when the ever-composed
mermaidlady is with me in public, just to see what she'd do... but that didn't seem like a good justification for buying a hat. Especially as I was in the middle of a costume frenzy at the time... so had many other shiny things to occupy me.
But now... oh... now I could buy a metric shit ton of cheap fruit and make fruit hats for all my friends. We could wear fruit hats while bowling, or mini-golfing or anything else, really. The possibilities are endless.
I promised myself I would do Cuban Pete "straight" - or at least as non-comedically as you can perform any song sung by Jim Carey... but at some point, as Vishnu is my witness, a fruit hat will be coming to a Betty Blaize near you!
