Ducky goodness
Sep. 14th, 2005 09:38 amCost for supplies - $6.70
Paper plate - free
Time to execute - 2.5 hours
Joy of having ducky pasties - priceless
There is definitely something theraputic about making things with shiny fabric.
Not to mention the added joy of having spent the first part of the evening with
jezebelpussycat, my apprentice. This is the first class we've had since Pennsic. Apparently I kicked her ass - but in a good way. We're starting on the traditional Indian dance workout, instead of learning a single choreography at a breakneck speed. And that starts with tattu adavu - a way to practice the most basic step - a stomp in place - by doing various repetitions on each foot in slow, medium and fast. It takes - if you do it back to back to back - about 10 minutes. It took us about 30 or so - given that we broke, stretched, and such. It's hard.
We also hit some abhinaya work - a review/relearn of the sabha slokum - a painfully documentable peice from the Abhinaya Darpana. It typically goes before the choreography we just worked on, so it's a good place to start. This abhinaya stuff is actually kind of new for us. We touched on it a long time ago, but never got so hard core. Since the next heavy-duty peice is also abhinaya, it's nice to start with a slokum that is both short and not quite so emotional to get the juices flowing.
Grabbed a nice dinner with
pax_industria and then home for the duckies. Probably should have paid bills, but I really wanted these duckies.
Today - work, dentist, swing by dance supply store and get more sequin trim, home & practice, probably with a little bit of homework reading over lunch and dinner. Hopefully will also be able to make a start on the damn bills.
