OK... so I'm hiding from working on slides for a few bare minutes, so I can goof off and post. :)

Work is plugging along:
- all the review work is done on my document - now it's just the official stamping and sending of it to the right customer contacts. Still takes a few cycles, but we're skimming along, the panic o-meter is reducing

- on to slides. I got a groove going yesterday, hope I can pick up where I left off.

Teaching:

Did a class for the Hippie Chix last night on sari draping. They are contemplating using some SouthEast Asia inspiration, and they had a festival of sari shopping the last time Melinda of Sari Safari came here to sell saris. A while back, I got the inspiration to ask them if they wanted a workshop, since I'm one of the resident sari geeks. :)

It was alot of fun. I always love teaching when the students are excited about learning - it's one of the things that makes SCA teaching such a joy - the only people that feel inclined so show up are eager students. Anyone who doesn't want to learn, goes and does something else - there's always so much going on at an SCA event.

So... we covered the three drapes I know best, and I went into a lot of detail on tips and tricks. Especially the modern nivi wrap has a lot of little things that girls notice, becuase women seem to be similar in every culture - there's certain catty elements that dictate who is "well dressed" and who is lame. We also looked at various choli patterns, although I don't have the skills yet to do a "choli fitting class", per se, but I can talk a little about construction and various pros/cons.

It's neat to teach these dancers, I can see their devious little minds chugging away on where to take these ideas in terms of their own artistic choices - that's neat. The core of dance and creativity is making something your own - putting your own unique spin on it. These ladies do that.

Better yet - they paid me. Not a ton of money. It's not like I'll quit my day job. :) But a nice fee for the consideration of my time. Given that we hadn't talked money, this was a nice bonus.

And many happy hugs were shared over my recent elevation - the best part of all. :)

Had a late dinner in Chinatown and got home at a reasonable hour.

Even managed to wake up this morning to my own internal alarm. A definite boon, since apparently I didn't set my alarm!

One day, you'll have to show me how to wrap a sari. I have some. But, I don't know any cool tricks.

We'll add that to the long list of things we need to do on girls night in.
