Happiness is
Jul. 15th, 2005 09:33 am... seeing a paystub that shows that tuition has been directed deposited into your back account to the tune of a couple thousand bucks. And, given I paid the tuition a long time ago, this money is MINE, yay! I think I will use it for the exciting purchases of an exterminator and a new dryer. OK, and some for Pennsic.
A nice class. I think many us just hit the Final Stage of Pennsic Panic - the "what can I not do?" stage. That stage can sometimes be followed by the nervous breakdown stage. But let us not hope for that.
Happily, none of us want to jettison Dancing Ladies Dancy-Dancy. We have several gigs in mind for Pennsic, and we have a lot of ramp-up on our plates. This week we worked on a new sword and maybe veil peice - another form of loose choreography. We will plan movements but not coordinate them to time signatures. The idea - do things on *a* beat, but let the sword have it's way, too. And since we have live musicians, the music can go as long as we need it to - we just signal the end.
Also worked on Nikriz (spelling sucks) - formerly "Lynne's solo", now "Lynne and the pips" - to live music. It is a very neat and fun-hard choreography. For once I opted for sanity and sat this one out. I will enjoy any practice I get, but expecting to be good it this by Pennsic is one thing too many.
And that was class.
GNE is upon me. The last pre-Pennsic camping trip for me. I'm camping with Moomba, my beloved camp, so I happily have no fear of camp drama or a yucky, messy, dirty, unfed camp. YAY! Watching the Pennsic stress of a few others, I heave a happy sigh of relief at having found such a nice place to settle. (knock on wood)
Getting a roof rack on the car today, so that I don't have to ask
new_man to haul my poles for my tent. A whopping $300, all told, including professional installation and locks to keep random passerby from fucking with it, but after the major roof rack Pennsic trauma 2 years ago, it seems worth it.
Packed trunk, current packing list:
- tent - walls, floor, roof, tarps, stakes & ropes & hammer bag - packed
- poles - waiting for roof rack
- camp - 2 pots, 2 pans, knife collection - packed
- cooler - washed and waiting for food & ice tonight
- bed - mattress, sheet, sleeping bad, topsheet - packed
- pillow - DON'T FORGET to pack
- comfort - comfy chair, basket man bench chair, lantern (electric), lantern (candles), Indian decor sheets, sunscreen, bug spray, feast gear, baby wipes, jewelry box
- to go in car -
- already packed but not in car - clothes, toiletries, Horatio
- to pack - umbrella, whisk, choli makings, crafty basket, portfolio for A&S stuff, rhythm sticks, shoes
- poles, ?rugs?, cooler, food (in cooler), pillow
- Indian astepada game, dhoop and turmeric
And that's it. Hope not to leave stuff out...

Date: 2005-07-15 02:42 pm (UTC)I wish the tent was. I tried driving the car up next to it, but it didn't leap right in. I tried yelling that we were gonna be late if it didn't get a move on, but it just sat there in canvas oblivion.
