Axis last night.
Nov. 18th, 2005 09:39 amOh boy am I tired. I feel like I've been dead for three days. How can I be this wrecked and not have TOUCHED a drop of alcohol. There will definitely be a nappy nap nap before the 3 Scorpios Party tonight. The idea of a good book, Chinese food and a bed is simply tantalizing.
Can sleep pretty much as late as I want tomorrow! (happy dance!)
But... tired as I am, I am happy. Axis had a lovely large crowd - full of many people I don't know. We had some great familiar faces of friends (thank you!!), too - but lots of newcomers makes me very happy, as a nightclub can't thrive on friends alone. Had lots of good performance things, too:
- Pinky did my hair in a fabulous curly up-do that was quite retro. It doesn't hurt that I believe I remember Miss Immodesty Blaize having a similar do and I am a total fan girl with an enormous crush on her. So.. yeah... a little hero worship. I'm reminded of a 3-year-old from Seraglio who formed a similar crush on me... what goes around comes around?
- Jump, Jive -n- Wail went pretty well. Our timing was not perfect, but I didn't feel any big "oops moments", we were dancing and emanated cartoon-like having of good times, which was my goal.
- Cuban Pete - the audience sure liked it. I still wish I'd taken the time to really choreograph it. Rave reviews on the dress. I'm pretty proud of it. I do sure sew alot, but with the medeival stuff, I do lots of rectangular costuming. It's been a while since I eased a curve or cut one for that matter.
- had fun on the block at the end of the night. With the choreographies all done, I could let loose and just enjoy the blocks. It was good fun, and I got my flirtation motor running. Or maybe I just loved my new hair do! :)

jezebelpussycat did a great song about snack crackers called "Camel Walk". Her abhinaya was adorable. Of course, I'm biased... but it really was cool. missminadances, in practice, seemed to really have her flirt going strong... wish I could have seen the real show. We got a tray with ice cream sunday's for Dinah's waitress song, so that she could cover her boobs with the tray, and the glued down sundays would be umm... replications... of the body parts under the trays. Complete with red cherry on top. That just cracks me up.
All in all a good night. Lots of things to be happy about, even if I'm sore and tired today. It just about took a crowbar to get me out of bed.
I take a certain perverse pleasure in interrupting my work on creating an interface design document for a part of a complicated system to take my clothes off and dance around cutely. I like being both smart and adorably cute. And any day I get to do both is definitely a good day.
