Catching up...
Jun. 14th, 2005 03:27 pmSo... after a slightly lazy day of work, I'm actually thrumming along:
- new roomate continues to rock - she made me pad thai for dinner, removing need for me to feed myself after dance
- taught dance to my students - we are moving along. We went pretty fast. They are still working through the faster end bit to the first third, and we ran forward into the next third. I know that if I was Aparna (my teacher) we'd have stopped, and worked the old stuff harder, and not done the new stuff... but I also know we have a deadline and we are not necessarily aiming at perfection. I feel that I am shafting them by not focusing on the detail Aparna does - but in the spirit of SCA sampling, not everyone should be an expert at everything.
- fitted Eleanor for a choli. Despite her similar measurments to Lady Sprite, she is structured very differently. Her shoulders are wider, and her whole body is more angular. So she needs her own choli mockup. Oh well... nothing worthwhile comes for free.
- got in some studying - feel like I've got a handle on homework and can round the curve tonight
- got to bed at reasonable hour
- got up early (..er) and managed to practice my hardest dance routine, and the piece for the Palio
- got to work on time, with coffee! Go me!
- had a long morning meeting about what I'll be doing for the new project. My general reaction = "why do they trust me doing something this hard and important?". It's neat stuff... but I feel a little daunted. So far so good. I will be working with a friend though - the junior developer is my favorite office girl pal - Marianne - who really is Indian. I mean, on the outside. On the inside, she's a Gap wearing, urban-chic, yuppariffic American from the 'burbs of NYC.
- have a handle on the song "Manavu" for the dance gig this weekend in Natick. Need more practice, but feeling much better about it.
Hopefully, if I'm really good, and get all my homework done tonight, I can go see Batman!!
