Lakshmi performance
Sep. 6th, 2007 10:46 pmYes, an actual Lakshmi performance. My body hasn't been completely consumed by the Babydolls (not that being devoured by Burlesque dancers is a bad thing, mind you).
OK, well actually the gig is Beth, the Indian dance student at Navarasa, not really Mistress Lakshmi 16th c. temple dancer. :) But the dance is similar to a form seen on temple walls in my empire. Boy am I a dork.
But I digress...
Here's the details:
Boston Arts Festival
Saturday, Sept. 8
Christopher Columbus Park - near the Acquarium on the Boston Waterfront
2:30-3:15 PM - we're "Dance Asia" on the website, but really we're Navarasa Dance Theater & Academy
Cost - free
Aparna, Pradeesh, Anil and the students of Navarasa are performing a selection of numbers from their recent show, which is a combination of folk dance, Bharata Natyam, Mohini Attam, Kalari Payattu and all sorts of other stuff. No aerial work - the stage is open air. I'll be performing at both the beginning and end of the show, doing a Kola Attam number - a stick dance done in South India.
