bethlakshmiTGIF!!! I woke up this morning in the general state of "gah! I guess it's time to drag my sorry ass out of bed" that occurs every morning, but realizing it was Friday gave me more motivation.
Friday's are our team status meeting morning, and I even managed to remember that through the entire getting up, rehearsing, getting to work process, so I arrived on time and prepared, mentally - with coffee and muffin in hand. Go me. I hate this status meeting, as we have lots of jobs and I'm not sure what value we all get out of the meeting. Since we don't all work on the same task, knowing that someone else is doing something completely different doesn't help much. And we don't really have enough time to give a full accounting of any single task to the boss, since that takes more than the 5 minutes each person would be alloted. But then, after listening to Johanna Rothman at Best Practices, I'm more aware of other ways to do management, so perhaps I'm just a little sensitive to this right now. Someday I look forward to trying things My Way.
Last night was a rehearsal with Mina and Honey. Feeling good about the hardening/tightening of the peices. Looking forward to Scratch's clear eye on Sunday (or whenever he can make rehearsal). I want to know and yet dread knowing our weak points, since we surely have them. God bless Mina and Honey for being prepared, practicing, willing-to-help as much as possible dancers - it makes my job both easier and more fun.
That said, I'm getting nerves about getting all the material preparation stuff done. I don't think it's insurmountable - especially considering that I have a number of "punt this if necessary" type tasks. Meaning, I CAN punt them but I don't necessarily want to. This will be another very work-at-home oriented weekend, with me hopefully checking off LOTS of small tasks, so my brain is free to optimize any of the bigger tasks.
Still need to pay bills this month - which is getting urgent. It's hard, with so much other (funner) stuff to do, to do that. But it must be done.
Aparna is home, I forgot to call her back after 9:00 last night. ARGH.
Practiced for the Lizard Lounge this morning. The two peices I have in mind are warming up nicely, but I wish I had time/energy to revamp them a bit. But then... I always do. Right now, the way they were performed originally will have to be good enough. Out for Blood needs my time.
90% finished the first spider glove last night. I think it'll be great. They take a bit of time to do, but it's worth it given the needs of flexible hand movement, long term/hard use show and shiny-making.
