Trying to shake it off... I'm gonna list out stuff I loved about this very nice weekend:

- Trip to Liquid - Cheryl my hairstylist continues to kick ass. Whether she found the same shade as last time, or we created a whole new one, I love it, and so do the other people near me... I've compliments all over on it.

- Class with Aparna - as ever, fabulous to see her & appreciated more, as it hasn't been so present in my life. Apparently I don't completely suck - we cleaned up one part of Pushpanjali, and have moved on to working the head and neck stuff. We're doing that on a "go and try it, I'll tell you where you're wrong" basis, but I suppose that'll make me think about it more... The Javali is not too screwed up. I'm supposed to do all the moves discreetly, with no smoothing of transitions. This is an exercise. After I make each one secular, we'll talk about the transitions, and choose how to move from one move to another. That is definitely new territory for me.

- Chance encounteres of the [livejournal.com profile] rising_moon and [livejournal.com profile] dreda kind. I ran into the two lovely ladies at Diesal and spent a good chunk of the evening in Davis Sq. in their charming company. They are two ladies whose conversation I really enjoy, and wish to see more of, but never have the time to.

- Wrote 1/3 of the choreography for January - [livejournal.com profile] new_man helped me find a really neat peice for a trio Middle Eastern thing - "Istanbul" by 80 Drums. It's not at all like "Istanbul", although it uses the same melody. It's got very noticeable segments, and has a hell of a lot of personality.

- Taught almost the entire 1/3 to my fellow dancers Sunday night. Our newest dancer is keeping up fairly well. She's very attentive and directable and doesn't fuck around, which is fabulous. She doesn't know Middle Eastern dance, and this is chucking the baby in the water and hoping it can swim. But I picked moves that are in the middle and I can simplify them or add complexity as we go along. Generally, I'm pleased. The true test comes next practice, when we see how well everything stuck in place.

- Got at least 2/3 of my Xmas shopping done in 1.5 hours. A new world record. I had trouble finding a block of time this weekend, and a block of 3-4 hours was what I really needed, but I managed to get most folks shopped for on Sunday in Harvard Square. I have select bits that I need to accumulate, but I'm feeling able to do that in the next several days.

- lots of time with [livejournal.com profile] mermaidlady and [livejournal.com profile] new_man - casual time, but plenty of it, mostly stolen here and there amid our other activities.
