I swear that took me 5 minutes. Drawing a goofy santa hat with Paint is pretty easy... well... at least it's easy if you can draw other rather crappy things in Paint.

OK - how'd you get it to save? I can save the thumbnail as a .jpg, but I can't save the actual image as a .gif or .bmp (the only two options).

If the .gif was built in Photoshop I think you have to open the original Photoshop file (using the ImageReady feature) to update it. Have you ever played with ImageReady? It allows you to make a series of little .gifs animate flip-book style. You can make the little hat appear and disappear, or turn funny colors, or fall off, or... or... yeah.
