Now I finally get to announce it!

Best Burlesque
TIME magazine called burlesque "the next hot thing", and who are we to argue? Troupes are popping up all over New England and the different flavours are enough to make your head spin. We don't know the difference between 'neo-burlesque' and 'burlesque revival', but we know what we like. If we wanted punk cabaret, gore, or attitude, we'd still be dating whatshername. Burlesque should be sexy, flirty, and a little silly. Our favorite? The Boston Babydolls, appearing the third Thursday of every month at Axis, and at various venues around the city.

Date: 2005-10-27 09:34 pm (UTC)I've noticed many announcements for different troupes lately, and wasn't sure if it was my heightened awareness of burlesque, or if there really were more. I've even seen a listing for a goth burlesque troupe!

Re: Yeah Baby Dolls!
Date: 2005-10-28 01:16 pm (UTC)I think this year Burlesque is exploding into the mainstream a bit. It might just be the Next Big, Hip Thing. I also know, though, that I'm more in touch with the Burlesque community now, since I joined a few LJ groups and search the Net a bunch, looking for things to work my American Stolen practices upon. :)
