new_man and mermaidlady have probably seen this - as she works through Le Scandal and a few of the other NYC Burlesque things, but... wow. She is neat.
Lesson learned - you can still be a fabulous Burlesque Enchantress without a drop-dead costume. A lot of what she's doing is in rather frumpy outfits one could get at many second-hand stores. What makes it rock is she is fun, funny and having a great time. And... most striking - even when she is doing a peice where she is scared as the character - the taking the clothes off part is done with joy. In the cowgirl video, it is almost as though the two of them are made happy by the act of taking of clothes.
Hmm... the bathing thing... Bathrobes, terry cloth towels, a rubber ducky, a loofa, some sexy slippers, and possibly a coat rack made to look like a shower... this may be immanently doable and a reasonable inspiration for the forthcoming gigs. I really like her teases where she removes an article of clothing, but puts another (often smaller) something there, first. Then, eventually, she gets rid of the smaller something there.
"Splish Splash, I was Taking a Bath" by Bobby Darin comes to mind... I wonder where I could get the lyrics... of if there are other good, cute, preferably sexy, bath songs. A quick search on "bath" in lyrics gave me a bunch of modern, angsty songs - like Alanis Morisette's "Will you forgive me love?" where she cries in his bath. Not good enough - needs to be happy.
