Training & more
Mar. 8th, 2012 06:17 pmSo, 3 weeks is better than 3 years, right?
My topic of the day is Training. Oddly, today is a nexus of thoughts on training. It's got 2 vectors going at work (the life of a nerd manager is regularly full of training!), plus the Great Burlesque Expo (be there or wish you were!) where I'll be teaching and I'm asst. class coordinator, and the next 4 weekends will have some form of dance training in them for me:
So, needless to say - I LOVE education. In fact, I'm a junkie. I have a MS in Computer Science, and I've been poking at MIT Sloan about possible MBAs (not anytime soon, but preparing to think about it). I hold 3 digital security certifications (CISSP, ISSEP, and CLSSP). And I have silly number of internal training credits in my former company's system. Not to mention the longetivity of my time learning Bharata Natyam, Carnatic Music, and Kalari Payattu. And Belly Dance. And the myriad little bits of other dance forms. And Burlesque. And crafty skills. And management improvement audio books... And podcasts...
( But, what has me going today is the effect of training on organizations. )

- Quintavian Halfa - assuming my current cold doesn't kill me, I'll be there. Go to www.eastkingdom.org to find the event listing.
- Wings over Conneticut - may even still have signup slots available. I'm way excited cause I've used Wings of Isis on stage and I don't think I do a half bad job, but this is a Master Teacher, and I expect to learn a great deal.
- Dance Feast - Where I am representing my teacher's group and teaching/performing some Bharata Natyam, and looking forward to taking some of the other awesome classes.
- GBE - 6th year! An awesome class lineup as always, and I'm really psyched for getting more time to teach as well as take some classes.
