We're currently in London - it's
new_man's birthday trip. I love London, although this time it's less like a magical foreign country, and just more a neat place filled with cool things. It's probably part that the really foriegn stuff is now familiar - the 1£ and 2£ coins, the candy bars, the variations in language... and partly that
new_man and
mermaidlady are not pointing out the differences to me so much. And partly that the world is getting more similar. Some is the US coming to Britain - there's Starbucks everywhere and we ended up at a lingerie store with about 50% Leg Avenue stock - some is Britain coming to the US - like Lush stores, and the fact that I can get a Flake Bar in Dorchester.
On the downside, my jaw is giving me grief. It varies from day to day, but it never closes right, and generally trying to close my teeth together hurts. I slept on it funny last night, and it now hurts all the time, even with 2 Motrin. I'll see a doctor when I get back. I'm mostly dejected since my leg problems are way, way better, and I feel like I deserved a vacation w/out pain. Although when I think about my friends who are in chronic pain, I feel whiny and pathetic.
Saw a number of cool things - yesterday we met with Earl - a musician with a retro/Vaudeville bent. He composes song and also sings old-time music, and he's quite nice and funny. When we went to coffee with him he wore a vintage suit - complete with spats! And he drives a vintage car, which he drove us home in. I felt I should be wearing my Betty curls and a head scarf with perhaps sunglasses.
Tonight we get to see Immodesty Blaize at a Miss Exotic World benefit. Oh my heart. :)
Did many other things, but I don't want to type them all out. :)
